Flinders-Mornington Peninsula

Both of us love being outside. Thought we only have 4 more weeks to enjoy ourselves before the school starts, we decided not to waste any weekend staying home. In fact, we have never rested at home since returning from New Zealand. Our favorite place this time is Flinders down in Mornington Peninsula. We love it because of its relaxing atmosphere, amazing scenery and especially, we can get heaps of anything that is on the seafood menu such as abalones (greenlip/blacklip), crabs and many types of fish.

However, after a few times travelling up and down in the last 2 weeks, we have learnt that this is only a great spot for snoggling or fishing as long as you make sure you pick your day right. The first time Duong went there with his 2 friends, the water was super clear. He got 5 abalones about 12 cm each and he was only in the water for a short while. But then when we returned the next day to the exact same spot to try some luck with crab, it was too windy and the waves were too strong to get into the water. When we returned the second time early next Saturday, the water was a bit misty, just good enough to see a few things but not able to catch anything. So like I said, you just have to pick the right day to go to Flinders.

Not to waste the trip, I decided to pose some pictures of myself as usual.
On the way back, we stopped to take picture of the farms along the road which have a lot of hay bails. The scenery was stunning. There were 4 beautiful horses running freely on the field. As we were looking at them, the horses also found us quite attractive so they came closer to the fence gazing at us, not once but several times.
And here are some more pictures on the second trip...
Duong was ready for diving, looking optimistic as if we definitely were going to have some abalonies for dinner.
And off he went
this is Duong half an hour later

So in stead of crab or abalones, we had the best strawberry icecream at the Sunny Ridge, a strawberry farm nearby.

hehe Lê, that was really cute! Anh Duong looked very much an uber-modern hunter & gatherer, what with his spear & fins & all. "Oh shut up woman, I'm trying to put food (albeit very fancy food indeed) on your table here!" hehehe :)

"So in stead of crab or abalones, we had the best strawberry icecream ..."

... and each other's company. Which is just the best huh? :)
